A Powerful Learning Strategy Methods Students Are NOT Using

Today, I’m going to share with you how this “missing piece” to your studying technique can…

boost your learning and dramatically raise your marks in Maths Methods.

It’s the same study technique (knowingly or unknowingly) used by past top achievers in Methods.

This is how they know the topics so well and achieve a raw 40 or 45+ study score.

This powerful study technique is called Retrieval Practice.

(AKA Self Testing).

Backed by science, Retrieval Practice is a study technique where you repeatedly recall learned material from memory.

In other words, give yourself practice tests.

Why is this important to you?

You see, in Methods, this is important because students forget previous topics…

So although you’ll find it easy to learn new topics as time passes it gets harder to remember the concepts you’ve covered.

The overall approach to studying Methods generally looks similar to this:

Study, Study, Study and Revise.

However, what it should look like is this:

Study, Test, Test and Test.

(repeat for each topic)

This is because it’s only through testing yourself (with exam questions) that you’ll come to a deeper understanding of the content.

The thing that separates top students from average students is they do a tonne of practice exam questions.

In effect, they are frequently Self Testing…

Pulling information out of their head  – over and over again – and testing their knowledge of each topic…

actively engaging with the material rather than rote learning.

Its during this process of deliberate practice of self testing they build, refine and solidify their knowledge…

and eventually reaping the rewards – ie getting an awesome study score.

The question now is, do you genuinely Test Yourself after you’ve learnt a topic?

a.k.a making sure everything is crystal clear before moving on to the next topic.

If not, then instead of re-reading and hoping that you know everything…

join the Maths Methods Club where you can instantly group official Methods exam questions by topic…

and test yourself to see if you’ve fully understood the topic you just covered…

or to reveal gaps in your knowledge, so you can pinpoint what it is you need to focus on.
