Have you ever worked through Methods questions and got stuck on one…
and you were like HUH?
In your mind you’re thinking – I‘m sure this is simple but you just have no idea what to do,
and have no clue where to begin.
So what do you do? What do you do when you hit a hard question in Maths Methods?
Did you keep trying and trying until you finally got it right. Or did you spend hours on that one question and annoyingly got different anwers each time?
Firstly – I want to say don’t feel bad if you got stuck – this happens to EVERYONE.
It happens to me – it happens to top students – it happens to tutors – and believe it not it also happens with your teachers.
Now what you shouldn’t do is ignore that question.
I suggest you spend about 10-20 minutes MAX
trying to figure it out by yourself. If you still can’t get to the answer then…
Check the solutions if available and see if you can figure out how they got to the answer. This usually helps, but if you still don’t get it then mark that question and move on.
There is no point in sitting there frustrated and angry – trying to figure out – just move on.
Later when you get a chance – ask you friends for help. Ask them how they approached the question. It’s likely they’ll be able to explain it in a way that makes sense.
But if they cant help, then you should ask your teacher.
What ever you do don’t dwell on a question for ages, its just a waste of precious time. Save yourself the headache and time by asking for help.
Maths Methods can be confusing.
I won’t lie. There are a lot of things that even I don’t know yet. You just need to be positive about it and dont be afraid to ask questions..
Asking question and having a positive attitude will do so much for your progress in Methods.
