Natalie – a student I tutored a while ago once told me she finds it quite easy to learn new topics in Methods but as time passed she’s found it harder to remember…
things like remembering equations, formulas or the steps involved in answering questions from the past topics that she had covered.
This is a common challenge many Maths Methods students face and so today ill share with you a technique you can use that will help you remember as much 90 % of what you learn…
and it doesn’t involve you repeating questions over and over again from your textbook…
quite frankly that would be boring and will just waste your time…
Here’s and interesting research that show much we remember:
5% of what we learn when we learned from a lecture (i.e. classroom)
10% of what we learn when we learned from reading (i.e. text books)
20% of what we learn from audio-visual (i.e. apps, videos)
30% of what we learn when we see a demonstration (i.e. step by step explanations)
50% of what we learn when we engage in a group discussion. (ie study groups)
75% of what we learn when we practice what we learned.
90% of what we learn when we teach others.
